The Sino Swiss Competence Center (SSCC) will be run as a self-funded Competence Center at the Research Institute for International Management (FIM-HSG) of the University of St.Gallen.
SSCC will seek cooperation with private and public partner institutions in Switzerland and China willing to contribute to developing Sino-Swiss academic, business and economic relations. It will provide a platform for direct interaction between Swiss and Chinese business representatives as well as between business representatives and policy makers.
SSCC will cooperate closely with SSCC-UIBE, a self-governing entity at the influential University of International Business and Economics of China (对外经济贸易大学).
Both the Swiss (SECO) and Chinese (MOFCOM) authorities, as well as the Swiss Embassy in Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Bern support building up SSCC. Likewise, the St.Galler Amt für Wirtschaft und Arbeit and the HSG Presidency (Rektorat) are actively supporting this project.
The SSCC inauguration has been planned for March 16/17, 2017, i.e. prior to World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting. A separate event in China has been scheduled for early May 2017.
